Important features of the magnet systems from Gator Magnetics

The principle of the magnet systems from Gator Magnetics is based on polymagnetism, a magnet technology that is much stronger than conventional magnets. In addition, unlike standard magnets, the unique lever mechanism allows you to easily attach the systems to ferromagnetic surfaces and to release them again effortlessly. Lifting the lever puts the magnet in a free-floating state, meaning it has no direct contact with the surface. This patented design makes it much easier to reposition the magnetic system: surfaces remain protected from scratches and no effort is required to attach the system.

All components of a Gator magnet, from the chassis to the easy-off lever, the magnetic field protection to the coatings, sheathing, wire and magnet, are perfectly matched to each other and thus ensure impressive load-bearing capacities under shearing loads.

Differences to conventional magnet systems

The patented 'Maxel' technology (a word combination of magnet and pixel) used by Gator Magnetics increases the adhesive and shear force of the magnet systems immensely. In addition, the strong magnet systems have a hanging mechanism that sits directly on the wall. But how does Maxel technology differ from the tried-and-tested magnetic technology used in standard magnet systems? And what does the hanging mechanism have to do with the high adhesive and shear force? We will give you an overview.

Design of the magnet technology

In standard magnet systems, the magnets are arranged with alternating poles on a steel plate. This means that in this type of arrangement, the north and south poles alternate. With this arrangement, the magnetic fields attract each other and thus concentrate the magnetic field lines, which increases the magnetic force overall.

Maxel technology and polymagnets go one step further: during production, individual north and south poles are arranged and printed in specific patterns on just one side of the magnet's surface. This technique creates many finer, more controllable magnetic fields instead of a single field. This type of structure creates a higher adhesive force.

How does polymagnetism work?

In a conventional magnet, there is only one north and one south pole. Polymagnetism is a technology in which several north and south poles are precisely arranged on the surface of a single magnet. This technology enables the programming of complex pole patterns: with the help of a special magnetisation head, the poles are incorporated directly into the magnetic material using targeted electrical impulses in the pole patterning process. This allows precise alignment of the magnetic fields and the generation of unique properties such as increased adhesive forces, direction-dependent magnetic fields or repulsive and attractive forces on the same surface. In Gator magnets, the printing pattern of the poles has been designed to optimise the holding forces in the shear direction.

Advantages thanks to better attachment solutions

With the magnet systems from Gator Magnetics, in addition to the Maxel technology, a bracket resting against the wall also helps to optimise the shear force. This results in the following advantages:
  • Increased load capacity: Because the wall serves as an additional support, the magnet system can carry greater loads.
  • Stable load transfer and better load distribution: The arrangement of the hooks reduces the leverage force acting on the magnet. As a result, the load no longer rests heavily on a single point but is better distributed.
  • Additional friction: Due to the direct contact of the bracket with the wall, the weight is supported by more than just the magnet. The direct contact creates additional friction between the system and the wall. This friction contributes to stability and reduces the risk of the system shifting out of position. It increases safety, especially with heavier loads.
  • Reduction of vibrations and movements: A loosely hanging bracket can be more easily caused to vibrate when subjected to vibrations or external influences (e.g. wind, impact). This can have a negative effect on the adhesive force. The magnet systems from Gator Magnetics offer optimum stability thanks to their flat and precise attachment to the wall. This direct connection minimises movements and vibrations as it effectively dampens external forces. This means that the mount remains secure and stable even under load-bearing conditions.

Possible application areas for the magnet systems

The powerful magnet systems from Gator Magnetics can be used in a wide range of applications.

Organisation inside the garage
Inside the garage, Gator hooks can be utilised in a variety of ways. Use them, for example, to store heavy tools and bulky items such as bicycles in a space-saving and secure manner. This allows you to arrange your garage not only more neatly, but also more efficiently.

Efficient organisation in the delivery van
The magnets from Gator Magnetics are the ideal solution if you are a tradesperson looking to optimally organise your van. Use the strong magnets on the steel surfaces of the vehicle to securely attach tools and accessories and always have them within reach. The magnetic force holds everything securely in place, from cordless screwdrivers and toolboxes to ladders.

A tidy home gym
Use the hooks in your home gym to arrange training equipment and accessories in a space-saving way. You can hang dumbbells or weight plates on the wall so that they are neatly organised and within easy reach. Thanks to the magnetic hooks from Gator Magnetics, the floor remains clear and everything you need for training is close at hand.

Expanding the wardrobe and storage room
With the clever accessories from Gator Magnetics, you can also reorganise your wardrobe or storage room. Everything from hiking rucksacks and trekking poles to vacuum cleaners can be hung up and stowed away.

Practical tips for using Gator magnets

The magnet systems from Gator Magnetics offer high adhesive force and stability. If minor problems arise, they can be quickly resolved.

Safe use of the Gator hooks

To ensure that the Gator hook holds properly, carry out the following test: Close the easy-off lever correctly so that the adhesive force can work optimally. Once attached, pull down firmly on the magnet and check that it remains stable and does not slip.

Why won’t my Gator Hook hold?

It can happen that the magnet in the lever mechanism slips out of position. As a result, the bracket will not adhere to the wall, even if you use the lever mechanism to place the magnet. Simply push the magnet back into the correct position inside the bracket. Now your Gator magnet system will hold securely once again.

Why did the hook come loose from the Gator hook?

If great force is exerted when operating the easy-off lever, the hook can detach from the device. This is no cause for concern: the hook can simply be pushed back into the device and is then firmly back in place. Notches on the hook itself ensure that it locks into the device and is not easy to detach.

Outdoor use

The Gator steel wall panel and its end caps are made of galvanised steel and have a matt UV coating. As a result, the panels do not rust and do not develop a patina. (Patina is a thin, often protective oxidised layer that forms on metals with age or due to environmental conditions; an example would be the green layer on bronze statues). The UV coating also ensures that the colour does not fade and it protects the surface from wear and tear. These properties make the wall panels resistant to the effects of the weather. It is therefore possible for you to use the Gator steel wall panels outdoors.
The Gator magnetic hooks and Gator storage baskets are also weather-resistant and suitable for outdoor use. However, if the magnetic hooks are exposed to UV radiation over a longer period of time, the colour intensity of the easy-off lever may fade.
